Day Trip

Group Excursion - Friday, October 5th

We are working with a tour guide to lead a group trip to interesting locales outside of Oaxaca City. The trip will include a visit to:

  • The village of Santa María del Tule and stop to see the Árbol del Tule. This is one of the oldest trees in the world, and is the stoutest in the world (it takes 17 people with outstretched arms to encircle it's trunk);
  • San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya. This small agricultural town is home to a breathtakingly beautiful attraction: the Temple and Ex-Convent of San Jerónimo.  Built in the 16th century, its decorations and carvings show both European and indigenous influences and are unlike almost any other in Oaxaca.
  • Teotitlan del Valle. This is the regional epicenter of masterful Zapotec rug weavers. Take a look at this article, "A Rug Weaver Searching for Social Justice in Oaxaca."

Departure: 9.30AM from Hotel Quinta Real. Tickets will be sold at 9AM just before the departure of the tour at the same place.
Return: 1.00PM
Includes: Mercedes Benz van, english speaking guide, tickets to sites and church, hat and water.
Cost: $25USD per person.
